Initiation
secures lifetime membership in Tau Beta Pi, but service does not end there.
Members are encouraged to attend all meetings and social events and are
provided numerous opportunities to serve their chapter, college, community,
and profession. A "Tau Bate" is a servant at heart.
Membership Requirements
Membership in Tau Beta Pi requires both Distinguished
Scholarship and Exemplary Character. Requirements set by the national
headquarters and the chapter include:
- GPA
- Graduates: top 1/5th of
class
- Seniors and 5th-year: top
1/5th of class
- Juniors: top 1/8th of
class
- Engineering Credits
- Graduates: program 50%
completed
- Seniors and 5th-year: 20
credit hours completed
- Juniors: 13 credit hours
completed
- Juniors, Seniors, and
5th-year students need to have 30 USF hours completed
- Must be of good character
- Have all officers sign
membership endorsement form
- Take short quiz
- Complete a service project
including photo and written summary
- Attend at least one
Engineering Futures leadership workshop
- Polish individual Bent for
initiation ceremony
- Must attend the initiation
ceremony and banquet
