Integrity, Excellence, and Service in
Engineering
Introducing Tau Beta Pi
Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering
honor society, was founded in 1885 to recognize engineering students of
superior scholarship and outstanding character, as well as engineers of
eminent achievement.
It is the only engineering honor society
representing the entire engineering profession and it is the nations second-oldest
honor society. Tau Beta Pi includes 220 collegiate chapters and has initiated
more than 431,000 members.
"Tau Bates" are known as accomplished
leaders in their fields. Membership does not end with graduation, but represents
a lifetime of recognition of each member's special achievements.
Tau Beta Pi's goals are greater than
simply recognizing outstanding engineers. Our second objective is "to foster
a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges."
Tau Beta Pi was a founding member
of the Association of College Honor Societies in 1925 and remains an active
leader in the association
